Moving Pen
A practice for cultivating attention through handwriting and connecting it with life.
For most of my life, writing has been a way of paying attention.
Moving Pen grew out of that experience, and out of a simple observation: when you keep the pen moving, something changes.
The mind slows down. You become more aware of what is happening. Thoughts appear that are difficult to reach when you are simply trying to think your way to an answer.
The practice is simple: Keep the pen moving.
Why handwriting?
We live in a world of speed, information and constant digital noise. Handwriting offers something different.
It gives you a few moments where there is nowhere else to go. You write one thing, then the next, and in doing so you begin to notice what is already there.
This is not about nostalgia or writing beautifully. It is about attention.
The Moving Pen Practice
Moving Pen is a series of simple writing practices designed to create space for attention, reflection and deeper thinking.
You don’t need to be a writer. You don’t need to write well. You need a pen, some paper, and a little time.
You will find that it becomes easier connecting your attention with life.
Moving Pen Membership
Besides physical workshops, Moving Pen is available as an online writing practice for anyone who wants to make more room for attention, reflection and deeper thinking.
New writing practices are added weekly, giving you a simple reason to put the phone away, pick up a pen and spend some time with your own thoughts.
And, once a month we write together for a whole hour.
